An overview of the course
Level 1 (day 1) includes:
- A practical introduction to Makaton with discussion of commonly asked questions, hints and tips for effective signing and symbol use, and how to start using Makaton in everyday situations at home or work.
- Signs & symbols from Stages 1 and 2, and half of the additional stage from the Core Vocabulary (approximately 175 concepts).
- Participants can choose to attend Level 1 only or Levels 1 & 2 together.
Level 2 (day 2) includes:
- Further development of skills and knowledge from Level 1
- Signs & symbols from Stages 3 and 4 and half of the additional stage from the Core Vocabulary (approximately 175 concepts)
- Participants can choose to attend Level 2 only if they have already attended Level 1.
Who is the course aimed at?
- Professionals, parents and carers who need to use Makaton at home or in their work.
About the trainer
Naomi qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist in 2000. She has worked in a variety of settings within the NHS before moving to independent practice. Naomi is the Managing Director at Speaking Space (Romsey) Ltd and a Makaton Tutor.
