We offer excellent training on all aspects of communication and social skills and many of our courses are written specifically for you and your audience. Our most common courses are:
Social skills – a 1, 2 or 3 day course on assessing and teaching social skills, facilitated by the author of the popular Talkabout resources, and our managing director, Alex Kelly.
Autism Awareness – a 2 day course on understanding autism. This course is partially facilitated by an autistic lady who attends our day service.
Communication and Autism – what are the difficulties and how can we help?
Makaton – from Level 1 to Level 5 (run by a regional Makaton Tutor)
Speech, Language and Communication Needs – this can be a 1 day introduction to supporting children with SLCN to a 6 day training course to enable you to lead on this within your school.
Sensory Profiling & Engagement – this can be from a 1 day course to an extended 6 day course to enable you to lead on this area
Self esteem and friendships – a 1 day course on how to develop these in children or adults
Sex and relationships – a 1 or 2 day course on how to develop those skills necessary to keep someone safe within an intimate relationship
Total Communication – setting up and developing skills using a total communication environment
Communication and behaviour – a 1 day course looking at the link between communication difficulties and behaviour that can challenge
Communication Coordinators – developing skills in staff to enable them to cascade information to their staff teams
FACES – an award winning course that develops staff skills in empowering people by improving: friendships, assertiveness, choices, empowerment and social skills
Essential training – we are also able to deliver essential training such as safeguarding adults and children, health and safety, fire safety etc.
We also offer our Centre of Excellence approach to schools wishing to embrace the social skills programme and integrate it onto their timetable. This package runs over an academic school year and includes an inset day training for the whole staff, three visits (one per term) from a member of the Alex Kelly Ltd team to help set up groups and advise one issues, support assessment and reassessment of students to show progress and complete a report at the end of the year detailing the programme and analysis of all the data collected and progress seen.
